Today I asked you to create an outline for your disaster story. There are no guidelines for structure, but there are certain elements that you will need. For example:

Today I checked homework (fu'realz), and then we went over the questions.
What happened next was the introduction to the Nethergrave assignment. This assignment is worth 50 marks, and it will be due by Tuesday, January 30th. My expectations are that you will complete the assignment in your One Note Notebook. I will soon (as soon as the program will let me) have placed Nethergrave Completion sheets in the Work Sheets folder in your note book. You should be able to type your story completion directly on that page, and then save it. Once it is complete, I will assess it, and post your mark directly there. Some things to remember:
Today, in class, we discussed Coordination and Subordination. In sentences, not in life.
Together we worked out questions 1-6 for Nethergrave; homework is to complete questions 9, 10, and 11. Homework will be checked Friday. Today you sat in rapt attention whilst I read A Mountain Story to you. Your homework is to complete questions 1-6 on page 19.
For Wednesday. Today, after a spot of silent reading, we read through a poem called "A Praise for Listener" (page 4-6, Language 8). After a brief discussion of the poem, you were assigned questions 1-7 on page 7. These are to be completed for discussion on Monday.
If you haven't submitted your Personal Culture Project yet, please get it into me as soon as possible, as I will begin marking them tomorrow. Enjoy your long weekend. Over the next while, at least while I'm still here, you will be expected to bring a book to read each class. It should be a novel, or a novel-length non-fiction book. My goal is to get you reading something for every class.
You will also be receiving your Language 8 text books today. Yay. Today is Friday, September 22nd, and your Personal Culture Projects are due. You have a full period in the lab today to finish the assignment. If you cannot get it done, you will have to finish it at home.
Before you submit the assignment, go over it more than once, and try to get someone else to read it. Once done, attach your assignment to an e-mail and send it to mcguiremarks@gmail.com Here's how we do...
Today we looked at word choices in context, and Thursday you get your library orientation. It will take the period. Please go directly to the library. Today we also began working on our Personal Culture Project. We went over criteria, I showed you a classy example, and you began writing your ideas down. So you know- on Monday next we will have another grammar presentation, then you will have time to work on your rough drafts for the project. I will come around to check out progress. Wednesday and Friday of next week we will be in the computer lab (A303) to do all of the work on the project. You have two full periods to get it done. It is due on Friday, September 22nd. |
